1. A superb location

Deep in the heart of Burgundy is Mailly-le-Chateau, a small commune and medieval rural village located:

  • midway between Paris and Geneva
  • beside the river Yonne and the Nivernais canal
  • in the Yonne Department of Burgundy (Bourgogne)

Pin "A" marks its location.

Our home is La Maison de Mahaut at 40, rue de la Comtesse Mahaut, 89660 Mailly-le-Chateau.

Rue Comtesse Mahaut is the village main street and Maison de Mahaut is close to the centre of the village.
It's a quiet location because all of the through traffic by-passes the village centre.

The name "Mahaut" honours Mathilde (Mahaut) de Courtenay, Countess of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre (1188 - 1257) who dedicated the village church (Eglise Saint Adrien) in 1223.

Eglise Saint Adrien can be seen just down the street from Maison de Mahaut.

More views of rue Comtesse Mahaut can be found on page 3.1 and of Eglise Saint Adrien on page 3.2
